Archival Phonograph/Gramophone Protection

For the protection of gramophone products the recommendation is that the record be removed from its original paper or cellophane housing and replaced in a specially designed archival storage jacket.

These jackets, the design of which was recommended by the Southwest Research Institute of America for the storage of the phonograph collection of the Library of Congress, consists of four layers of materials laminated together …. a kraft paper (exterior layer), polyethylene, aluminium foil and polyethylene.  The polyethylene and foil act as vapour barriers whilst the polyethylene inner layer protects the surface of the record from abrasion and damage.

We recommend that the cover of the phonograph be stored separately within an inert Polyweld® pocket.  Available in packs of 10.
