IPI Media Storage Quick Reference Proper storage conditions are arguably
the most important variable in the preservation of film. Temperature,
relative humidity and air quality all effect the physical stability of
photographic film, as well as video and audio tape, CDs and DVDs. This wheel
may be used to determine proper storage conditions for the various types of
photographic, optical and magnetic material found in collections today. This
reference guide includes two-sided wheel and a ten-page booklet. One side of
the wheel features media storage preservation issues and recommendations
regarding environmental suitability; the second side offers a media support
chronology for polyester, nitrate and acetate, along with approximate time
periods they were in use.
