Quake Hold Products There are three types of Quake Hold products, each with certain characteristics which make it the better choice for one application or another. MUSEUM GEL- This is the best choice for anchoring glass or crystal objects as it is invisible on clear objects and glass shelves. Roll it into little ball, set the artifact in place, and the gel sets in hour or so. It is reusable and non-toxic. Museum gel is also the best choice for items which are frequently moved. The gel is not susceptible to aging, though replacing it every time you clean the objects (or 3-4 times a year) is suggested. It is available in 4-oz. containers. MUSEUM PUTTY- This is the most universal product with the widest range of applications; it is strongly recommended for frequently moved objects. It is best for figurines, ceramics, porcelain, and adheres to most surfaces. It is clean to the touch and adheres instantly. Putty is suggested as the best choice for objects with pedestal feet. Non toxic, the putty is easy to apply and to remove, and is the choice in hot environments. Recommended for items which are often removed and replaced, it can be reused. Use putty on walls behind pictures, though it may leave some residue. It has proven to be the most popular product among retail consumers. It is available in 2.64 oz. containers. MUSEUM WAX- This is a specially-blended combination of microcrystalline waxes designed for use with antiquities in museums. It is the best choice for objects on wood (like shelves); it is also good for the wood-after a year or so it becomes more difficult to remove but is still removable. Museum wax adheres instantly, and is the least susceptible to aging or drying once in place if left on an object for 6 (or more) months, making it the best choice for more permanent displays. Recommended for long term museum displays when clarity isn't an issue (as it is with glass objects or glass shelves), though replacing it every time you clean the objects (3-4 times /year) is suggested.
